In its latest advisories on the storms, the NHC has advised that Hurricane Erick is moving in a west-northwest course towards the island state, at 17 miles per hour (28 kilometers per hour). However, weakening is expected to start late tomorrow night or early Thursday morning. After forming in the Atlantic Ocean, Humberto strengthened into a hurricane and, as of Tuesday morning, had maximum sustained winds of 90 miles-per-hour. These speeds made the storm a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. During a Category 1 hurricane, impacted areas should expect damage to the roofs of well-constructed homes, power outages and snapped tree limbs.
