Skyrim has been out for over a decade now, though soul gems didn’t originate in that particular Elder Scrolls game. The gems are typically utilized to perform enchanting or to recharge enchanted weapons. As the name implies, the soul gems can capture and house souls, though what happens when the gem is used is dependent upon the type of soul gem.

Skyrim fan ladyphedre shared their Christmas gift on Reddit, where other fans have quickly taken to the comments to joke and share their envy. The gift is quite impressive, as it includes a purple tome with the Conjuration symbol on the front, and the black soul gem tucked inside. This particular take on the soul gem includes a copper fastener with an attached black cord, allowing the recipient to wear it as a necklace if they so choose. The soul gem itself is made out of a piece of amethyst, and even includes a small card akin to the item descriptions in-game, explaining its weight, value, and what it contains; in this case, a Grand Soul.

Unlike many Skyrim and Elder Scrolls-related creations shared on the net, this one is actually official merchandise and can be purchased from the Bethesda store directly. While the tome isn’t a real book, it’s designed to look like one and can be closed with a magnetic clasp. Overall, it makes a great collector’s piece and would be an excellent gift for someone who really loves Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls in general.
Fans in the comments joked about whose soul might be contained in the black soul gem, with many of course pointing to the despised Nazeem, who often finds himself subject to pranks and destruction due to his rude attitude towards the player. However, others noted that it might be a play on ladyphedre’s relationship with her husband, with the soul gem indicating that she’s captured his soul. Ladyphedre jokingly noted that her husband wouldn’t tell her whose soul was inside the black soul gem. Since this particular variety of soul gem can hold back and white souls, it could be anything.
Many people received video game-themed Christmas presents this year, which have not only delighted the recipients but fellow fans learning of it, as well. Whether the gift is a handmade Thor’s Hammer or a store-bought black soul gem, these Christmas gifts have charmed many who love video games.
