A Plague Tale: Innocence
Before the release of A Plague Tale: Requiem later this year, Humble Choice subscribers can check out the first title in the series. A Plague Tale: Innocence brings players to France in 1349, where a plague has ravaged civilization. They take control of 15-year-old Amicia, who desperately wants to survive alongside her five-year-old brother, Hugo, who is infected with an unknown disease. Together they must traverse the country while avoiding swarms of rats and fighting back against the soldiers that hunt them. The game tells a heart-wrenching story of survival and the power of family, and now may be the best time to check it out given the aforementioned sequel in development.
Emily is Away 3
The Emily is Away series is described as text adventures meet chatbots, and the third entry is no different. The game has players create their own “Facenook” account, a fictitious version of Facebook, to experience making (and destroying) friendships. The game features multiple different paths and endings that depend on the choices a player makes. It is a unique title that promises to induce nostalgia for the early days of social media, and the first Emily is Away is free-to-play on Steam now.
Gas Station Simulator
There is something alluring about simulator games that task the player with doing jobs they might not want to necessarily do in real-life, and Gas Station Simulator fits this niche well. It puts players in control of a gas station in the middle of the desert, tasked with having to renovate it, expand its offerings, make it look appealing, hire staff, and get to work serving customers. Players will have to try to make the most successful gas station that they can, and they may spend hours trying to do just that.
Hot Wheels Unleashed
Hot Wheels Unleashed is like a toy set come to life, and it can be a lot of fun. Players take control of some of the most iconic Hot Wheels cars and race across wild tracks to get the gold. The tracks have all the staples of a Hot Wheels track; speed, large turns, and larger loops. Users can race against their friends in split-screen mode or against 12 opponents in online challenges, and they can also design their own Hot Wheels tracks in a strong track editor. The game may be a great time for racing fans and Hot Wheels fans alike, but it should also work for anyone who wants to go fast.

In Sound Mind
In Sound Mind is a psychological horror game filled with puzzles and boss fights. It comes from the creators of Nightmare House 2 and promises a spine-tingling adventure through various haunting memories. Players will have to think on their toes as they defeat terrifying bosses accompanied by an eerie soundtrack. It currently has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam which is a good sign the game is as scary as it claims to be.
Mind Scanners
Mind Scanners gives players the task of diagnosing citizens in a dystopian metropolis. Patients will come to the player, who must analyze their world views to decide what they may be afflicted with. They will have to play a variety of arcade-style devices to treat the patients and assist the government - or the resistance. Players will have to make tough choices, and their morals will be questioned as the game progresses, as the game shares a lot of similarities with Papers Please.
Omno
Omno brings players on an adventure through an ancient world where they must solve all sorts of puzzles to learn the mysteries within. Along their journey, the player will meet different critters of all shapes and sizes, and they will also have to overcome obstacles if they want to complete their quest. The game presents a beautiful world that is just waiting to be explored.
The Ascent
The final game on offer in this month’s Humble Choice is The Ascent, an action-shooter RPG set in a cyberpunk world. Players control a worker who is enslaved by the company that owns their district, but one day the district becomes threatened and players must embark on a mission to find out what happened. They will engage in explosive combat as they traverse the city, meeting a batch of characters that may serve as allies, or yet another enemy to overcome. The game can be played alone, or with up to three others for some fun co-op action. Potential subscribers have until September 5 to claim the bundle, and a brand-new batch of games will take its place on September 6.
Humble Choice for August 2022 is available through September 5.
